THE fairer sex will be in the pink at a unique charity walk this autumn.

Women and girls are being rounded up to take part in The Pink Shoe Shuffle at Arrow Valley Country Park on Sunday, October 1.

The fundraiser, in aid of Macmillan Nurses, the Primrose Hospice and Cancer Research UK, has been made possible through a partnership between Arrow Community Events and Shipleys bingo.

Participants are not required to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship money - just pay the £12.50 entrance fee. And £10 of that will go straight to charity.

Organiser Dave Wilkins said he hoped to attract at least 2,000 participants, generating £20,000 from entry fees alone.

"This is not a race and there is no age or ability limit.

"People can run, jog, walk, whatever they feel comfortable with, just take part and make a real difference to many people in our community," he added.

Men and boys are being encouraged to turn up on the day and support their female friends and relatives with collection buckets.

And after the walk is over there will be a barbecue, refreshments and entertainment from Radio Pulse and the Blackwell Wind Band.

Entries must be submitted no later than September 25 and there will be no admittance on the day without the special Pink Shoe Shuffle Badge.

Forms are available from the Palace Theatre, One Stop Shops, Redditch Town Hall, the Londis store in Furze Lane, YMCA and Shipley's.
