WYRE Forest tourism could get a boost from the improved status of a county-wide organisation promoting Worcestershire to visitors.
Destination Worcestershire, which brings together district council tourism sections, with Worcestershire County Council's and private sector partners, has earned official recognition from Tourism West Midlands.
With its new full status, Destination Worcestershire has become eligible to apply for Challenge Funding to support tourism development.
Peter Smith, head of economic development for the county council, said: "Tourism West Midlands recognised the substantial progress that we have made and, congratulated us on our work in developing joint publications, most notably, moving to a single tourism guide for the county.
"We made securing recognised status one of our priorities," he added.
