CHILDREN and staff from a Kidderminster school have said thank you to a dedicated parent who has had her hard work rewarded with a cash boost from a supermarket giant.

Juliet Fox, whose seven-year-old son, Matthew, and daughter Katie, nine, attend St Mary's CE First School, has been named one of Sainsbury's Local Heroes.

The 33-year-old, who works at the Kidderminster store's petrol station, had the £300 raised from a raffle she organised to help buy equipment for pupils matched by her employees as part of the prize.

Mrs Fox, a member of the PTA and governor for St Mary's CE Primary School - opening next year as part of the Wyre Forest education shake-up - said: "I do put in a lot of hours for the school because I like to help as much as I can. When you look at what goes on in the background of a school it makes you realise just how much needs to be done."

The Stoney Lane resident added she was hoping to saddle up for a 30-mile sponsored bike ride, negotiating paths on stretches of canal running from Wyre Forest to Wolverhampton, with other parents later in the year.

Lynne Hill, headteacher for five years at the Lyndhurst Drive school, described Mrs Fox's continued efforts as "incredible", adding she would have a say in how the money was spent.
