A WELCOME win lifted Badsey back up to third in Worcestershire County League Division Four.

George Cowley and skipper Dave Powell were the architects with the ball while Adam Westmacott's half-century helped the Ballards Park side's cause in pursuit of 189 for victory.

That target was way short of what it should have been when Brintons were 85-0 after 14 overs but the experienced pair produced superb spells to reduce the Kidderminster side 146-5 after 37 overs.

Powell claimed 3-44 from 12 overs while Cowley's dozen overs produced the superb figures of 2-21.

Andy Mabbett and Nick Powell continued the revival with the ball with the former snapping up 3-19 as Brintons closed on 188-8.

Westmacott's 54 helped the chasers reach 88-1 in the 17th over and Mike and Nick Powell continued the fine reply that helped Badsey to 114-2 after 24 overs.

Wickets tumbled as the middle order struggled and, at 137-5, the match was finely poised.

However, Cowley added to his effort with the ball to hit an unbeaten 42 that saw Badsey to a comfortable success.
