AFTER crashing 8-2 at Mile Oak on Saturday, Littleton responded in the best possible fashion on Tuesday night with a 7-0 drubbing of Archdales.

Steven Dipple banged in a treble, Philip Waters netted twice while the other two goals came from old stagers Simon Brain and Jon Gregory.

Littleton's rearguard, though, collapsed dramatically in the final 20 minutes of Saturday's opening Midland Combination Division One encounter.

The two sides were engaged in a clash that could have gone either way with the hosts leading 3-2 after opening the scoring in the second minute.

Tom Heath levelled five minutes later and Will Gayton came close to giving Littleton the lead as both defences looked unsure.

It was Rovers who struck again after 28 minutes, while Heath almost levelled with a shot that flew wide and another effort that was cleared off the line.

Littleton fell further behind ten minutes before the break but Graeme Hay's run down the right set up Gayton to volley splendidly into the net to make it 3-2.

Theer were no goals in the opening 25 minutes of the second period and the result was in the melting pot until Mile Oak netted for a fourth time.

Northfield Town are the visitors to Five Acres on Saturday for a 3pm start ahead of Monday's trip to Thimblemill (7.45).
