A COUPLE of last-gasp goals thwarted Pershore Town's hopes of starting the new Midland Combination campaign in positive style.
Steve Brown gave the King George's PF side the first half lead against Nuneaton Griff last Saturday but the visitors levelled in the last minute after Danny Edwards had earlier saved a penalty.
Tuesday night's home date with Southam again saw Town's ranks depleted but they again gave a good account of themselves despite trailing 1-0 at half-time.
Matty Staley's well-judged lob levelled matters in the second half but the Warwickshire outfit snatched the winner with virtually the last kick of the game.
