BEWDLEY Town have issued a "so far, so good" progess report after taking four points from a possible six in West Midlands Regional League premier division.

Craig Payton's men followed Saturday's 1-0 win at Wednesfield with a 1-1 draw at Wellington on Tuesday night.

The results were all the more impressive given that Jamie Hart, Graham Abbis and Keith Elliott were all out injured.

Lewis Pountney scored the only goal of the game against Wednesfield when he got on the end of Chris Hough's cross after good work by Matt Payne.

Sam Pountney spurned the best chance when he fired wide after Steve Holt's 43rd minute free kick found him unmarked.

Ryan Bradshaw was the hosts' most dangerous player but he was thwarted by keeper Steve Parker on a couple of occasions.

Bewdley burst out of the blocks at Wellington in midweek but only had Chris Hough's goal to show for their first half dominance.

Lewis Pountney provided a pin-point cross from the right on 30 minutes and Hough made no mistake with a header.

In a game of two halves, the hosts were on top after the break and equalised with an unstoppable 25-yard strike 20 miuntes from time.

"It's a good start from us, especially with us having players missing," said Payton.

"We've set our standards and we've got to maintain them.

"We'll have the injured lads back soon so hopefully we'll get even stronger."

Bewdley visit Dudley Sports on Saturday before travelling to Ludlow on Monday.

Bewdley Reserves drew 0-0 at Dudley in Division Two and are away at Penkridge on Saturday.
