ANDY Preece was full of pr-aise for his players after Worcester City recorded their second Nationwide North win of the season.

The City boss had been at pains to describe the lack of commitment and desire that typified his side's 1-0 defeat to Moor Green last Saturday.

But City erased that performance from their memories to run out 2-0 victors at Worksop Town.

"We bounced back from Saturday, which was an enormous disappointment," said Preece.

"It was good that we had a game coming up so soon so I think that was a blessing and the players responded.

"The team take all the credit. I thought they were magnificent.

"I thought it was a team effort. We were poor on Saturday and superb on Tues-day and that's what we needed.

"If we do that we have got good players and we have got a system that we know so I have no worries going into any games if we play like that. We are a tough side to break down and beat."

Chris Smith and Craig Wild-ing got the goals at Worksop while City's defence, including Des Lyttle and Justin Thompson side by side for the first time this term, kept the hosts at bay.

We just didn't look like we were going to concede," Preece added. "I think Danny McDonnell had one save o make in the whole of the game and when you are away from home that shows what a good performance that was.

"The players who came in did well.

"Slowly but surely we are getting people back and that's going to be key to the rest of the season -- getting people fit and getting that competition for places.

"We have got seven points out of a possible 12 and we have still got players missing.

"I couldn't be happier, it was just that one game against Moor Green."
