BROADWAY Dental Surgery is leading the way with the county's only oral £40,000 CT scanner.

Dr Mark Howe has bought the Promax machine that allows the dentist to take a cross-sectional view of the teeth at 90 degrees - something that has to normally be done in hospital.

The CT machine will provide Dr Howe with a better diagnosis to enable treatment for patients with relation to implants, wisdom teeth, cysts, buried teeth and jaw joint problems.

The CT scanner, which is the only one in Worcestershire, will also mean radiation dosages can be reduced to as little as one per cent of a full head scan, resulting in no need to go into hospital.

This does not replace the need for larger scans if a patient needs it but complements them for less extensive problems, he said.
