BIRMINGHAM City Ladies manager Micky Moore says the sky is the limit for his young charges after kicking off the season with their fifth successive win on Sunday.

After rubbishing predictions they would struggle to survive in the top flight last season to finish in mid-table, the Valley Stadium tenants kicked off the season with a 2-0 win at home to Sunderland.

Goals from 16-year-old Maz Gauntlett and new signing Amy McCannkept Moore happy.

"I really don't know what we can achieve this season," he said.

"Last year it was all doom and gloom and we were going to get relegated. When you look at what we achieved, who knows?

"Losing players like Karen Carney and Jo Fletcher is disappointing but we lost Eni Aluko a couple of seasons back and, in time, you recover.

"You can't wallow in the players who have gone and we have added three or four quality singings."

Blues were missing a quintet of regulars for Sunday's victory but Moore expects to have striker Maz Ballard available and is hoping midfielder Heather Scheuber recovers from an ankle injury.

There is also the chance of a recall for striker Ellen Maggs who is awaiting international clearance after singing from New York Magics.

But winger Dani Bird is out for a month with a knee problem and Wales international defender Kerrie Manley is on international duty for Sunday's trip to Everton.

And Moore is hoping to persuade more fans along to cheer on his side.

"The people of Redditch were magnificent and helped us to survive last season, hopefully they will come back and see some football," he added.
