MALVERN director of rugby David Robins has strengthened his squad with the signing of Pershore RFC scrum-half Julian Lambert.
A feisty, driving player, he gelled well with the back row in the warm-up match with National League side Old Pats and impressed spectators with his direct style.
With Ian 'Beano' White out of the picture until Christmas and the loss of Julien Davies, Lambert fills a crucial role in the Malvern squad.
Depleted side in plate final
A SMALL Malvern RFC squad travelled to the Droitwich Tens tournament.
With only 14 players available because of holidays and injury, the Malvern squad was the smallest in attendance.
Having narrowly lost to Pershore in the first game, Bromsgrove were dispatched 19-7, but the Fijian Pacific Blues side proved too strong, winning 26-0.
In the plate competition Malvern beat Nuneaton Old Eds 19-15, but having lost Fleming and Anderson to injuries, a depleted and weary side succumbed to Ludlow 10-5 in the final.
Five-try scorer George Roberts was Malvern's man of the tournament.
