THIS year's RUSI (Royal United Services Institute) conference will again take place at Malvern Theatres from September 19-21.
The conference is concerned with the exchange between scientists and military planners of state of the art information about weapons delivery systems. The expertise and know-how gained here is freely available to the world's most powerful commercial arms manufacturers, some of which rank among the sponsors of the conference.
It might be supposed that any move to defeat the arms juggernaut is futile. Nevertheless, any gesture of opposition, however small is to be welcomed and would serve to indicate that some of us are not prepared to tolerate a system which ultimately ends in scenes such as we are now witnessing in the Middle East and elsewhere.
