WORCESTER-based design practice Panton Sargent has sponsored an award on the Birmingham School of Architecture's postgraduate diploma in architecture. The award for outstanding achievement went to student Richard Guest for his project Urban Interventions.
The project reviews the coding and mapping of commercial street signage in Birmingham and exposes clusters and voids of advertisements that give a mixture of predictable and unexpected results. Panton Sargent supports upcoming architects in a variety of ways. Each year, three local sixth-form students are offered work experience, and senior members of the practice attend careers conventions in the region. The business also aims to recruit at least one graduate each year. Part-time students are employed and sponsored by Panton Sargent, with three currently working in the architects' team.
