A GROUP of gardeners from Jersey will be exhibiting for the first time at the Malvern Autumn Garden and Country Show next month.

Members of the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society are venturing across the channel after a practice stand set up at last year's Royal Jersey Autumn Show was a success.

The stand won the praise of RHS judge and UK sweet pea grower David Matthewman, who was holidaying on the island, and Three Counties Agricultural Society tradestands manager Doreen Smillie, who flew over to see it.

At the Malvern show, the stand will promote Jersey produce through exhibits of vegetables and flowers.

RJAHS member and vegetable grower Graeme Le Marquand has enlisted the support of both commercial and amateur growers.

"Jersey is, without doubt, one of the finest commercial growers in Europe, yet the society has never done anything on this scale before," he said.

The Malvern Autumn Garden and Country Show is on Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24. To book tickets, call 01684 584924.
