The Church of St Peter's, Powick, was full for two consecutive Sunday mornings for baptism. On August 13, The Rev. Douglas Walker baptised baby Holly Georgina Malpass-Weaver, of Callow End, supported by mother, Summer, and her family members.

Reading the lessons were Lyn Snook and Sally Linsey, who also played the organ. Last Sunday the vicar, The Rev. Sue Irwin, baptised ten-week-old Letitia Amanda Irene Swainson of Winsmore, Powick. Many members of her family attended, including mother Gemma, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The reading was by Jenny Hill, prayers by Florence Rees and Lyndall Brown played the organ.

By the time this column goes to press, members of Powick Parish Ramblers will have explored the area around Hadley Heath having started at Hadley Bowling Green Inn.

On Thursday (August 31), members of Junior Church (which meets at St James' Church, Callow End) will be taking their parents and teachers on a river boat trip from Twyning to Tewkesbury. Armed with a picnic, the travellers will arrive in Tewkesbury, visit the Abbey after lunch, returning to Twyning walking back along the bank of the River Avon. Please meet at Powick Church at 10.45am.
