THE Malvern Lynx Marching Band are off to test their skills at the world championships.
Twenty-four members of the band will travel to Richmond, Yorkshire, today (Friday).
They will spend the weekend competing against bands from far and wide in the senior class.
Members will be travelling in style, as the band has just bought a new bus and uniforms.
The band's best ever world championship finish was third place, in Blackpool six years ago. Malcolm Fish, who started the band 23 years ago, said win or lose it would be a good weekend.
"We've thrown a lot of new members in at the deep end this year but they seem to be doing well," he said. "It's up to the judges in the end. We just do our best and make sure we enjoy it."
Anyone aged nine or older is welcome to join the band, which practices from 6.30-8pm every Monday at Dyson Perrins School Hall. For further details, call Mr Fish on 01684 564233.
