ALVECHURCH'S winning draw against fellow strugglers Chaddesley Corbett at the weekend has given Martin Curtice's side every chance of beating the drop on a tense final day.

The visitors set a 218-9 target but Church responded with 153-8, enough to take 14 points from a rain-reduced reply.

And that leaves the villagers just three points short of the survival mark going into Saturday's do-or-die trip to a Bewdley side who sit just five points above their visitors and could find themselves relegated on the last day (12.30pm start).

The permutations in the Birmingham League seem certain to consign three clubs into the top tier of the Worcestershire League, meaning three will be culled from Alvechurch's division.

Church will be keeping an eye on results elsewhere with Chaddesley at home to Eastnor on Saturday and Barnards Green at Brockhampton.

Astwood Bank look to have been denied the runners-up spot by the wet weather at Kineton on Saturday.

The rain meant there was no play and each side were left just five points from the abandonment. But Bank's fate is in their own hands with current second placed side Droitwich the visitors on the last day.

It is a big ask but if Bank can take 23 points more from the match than their opponents they will finish the second best side in the Worcestershire League.

Feckenham are another side with all to play for with two matches left.

The Division Three North side set up a promotion charge with a winning draw against Cutnall Green on Saturday.

Feckenham posted 168-5 before Green held out on 133-6 in reply.

The hosts bagged 12 points to keep them second, 19 points behind Oldswinford and seven points clear of Enville in the race for the second promotion spot.

Depending on Enville's fortunes at mid-table Stourport, Feckenham can secure promotion at home to Amblecote and Wollaston on Saturday (12.30pm start).

Hewell signed off from Division Five with a flourish, thrashing hosts Barnards Green in an otherwise forgettable season.

The relegated side amassed 238ao before bowling out their hosts for 115 but ended up 90 points from survival.
