THE match between Astwood Bank and Alvechurch Wanderers was played in almost tropical heat.
Both teams were well represented. Alvechurch won choice of ends and played with a slight breeze and the sun on their backs.
Soon after starting, the Wanderers forced a corner which was well cleared and Smith, the Astwood custodian, had to deal with several well-aimed shots from a long range.
After 25 minutes of play the Astwood forwards made a combined run and rushed the ball through the Wanderers' goal.
On changing end, the home side immediately attacked and the Wanderers' custodian successfully dealt with several shots. A corner was conceded from which Parker scored a second goal for his side.
Soon afterwards, Smith sent in a beautiful shot and scored number three. The home side eased up which then gave the Wanderers an opportunity and two goals were scored in a few minutes.
The scores at the finish were Astwood Bank 3, Alvechurch Wanderers 2.
