A CARICATURIST brought smiles to the faces of people visiting Worcester city centre – including your Worcester News.

David Webb was hired to draw shoppers by Worcester Business Improvement District as part of its plan to bring more trade to the city.

Mr Webb, aged 35, of St John’s, Worcester, created the drawing above of our reporter Alicia Kelly outside Cathedral Plaza, High Street, on Saturday morning.

He said: “It’s a first for me to be on the street. I normally do illustration and corporate events. The idea is it’s free but people must smile.”

Mr Webb is the latest street entertainment act organised by the BID, which is funded by city centre businesses.

Little Oscar Lloyd, 18 months, also took home a caricature by Mr Webb.

Oscar’s grandfather John Pratt, of St John’s, said: “I think it’s a good idea. I think one of the problems with Worcester is the fact that it’s a bit like every other major town or city these days, so this can’t do any harm.”
