CANDIDATES from the three main parties hoping to be voted in as Worcester’s MP have been quizzed and scrutinised by Worcester News readers on a wide range of topics.

Just like Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg took part in the first live leaders’ debate last week, Worcester hopefuls Jackie Alderson (Liberal Democrat), Mike Foster (Labour) and Robin Walker (Conservative) faced questions on the economy, immigration, education and electoral reform.

The event, held at Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s New Road ground and chaired by your Worcester News’ editor Kevin Ward, enabled 100 people to hear what the three candidates had to say on those topics and hear each candidate’s case to become the city’s next MP.

Readers were also able to follow the debate live on worcesternews.co.uk and a video of the event will be uploaded to our site today.

There are six other candidates contesting the Worcester seat and they are: Jack Bennett (UKIP), Andrew Christian-Brookes (Independent), Spencer Kirby (BNP), Peter Nielsen (Independent), Andrew Robinson (Pirate Party UK), and Louis Stephen (Green Party).

Some of the candidates turned up to watch last night’s spectacle while all of them will have their answers to the questions asked at last night’s event published in Monday’s Worcester News, both in print and online.
