WORCESTERSHIRE’S newly established children’s trust board has delivered its first major piece of work – just weeks after being launched in the county.

The board signed off the information sharing protocol last Wednesday in an effort to improve the way in which information is shared between a number of agencies, groups and individuals responsible for delivering services for children and young people in Worcestershire.

Councillor Marcus Hart, chairman of the board, said: “It demonstrates the willingness of partners in Worcestershire to get on with the business of improving lives for children.”

The trust has developed from the children and young people’s strategic partnership and is a theme group of the Worcestershire Partnership. Parents, carers, schools, colleges, district councils, NHS Worcestershire, West Mercia Police, probation and Jobcentre Plus are just some of the many partners represented on the board.

The board is responsible and accountable for the delivery of the children and young people’s plan – the present version of which runs until April 2011 when, following a consultation process, a new three-year plan will be written.

The responsibility for the children and young people’s plan previously lay with the county council but under the new arrangements the accountability is shared across the partners on the board.
