A SCHOOL in Worcestershire is one of five in the county to win a leading national parent engagement award.
Hindlip CE First School, near Worcester, has been given the award as part of the leading parent partnership award scheme taking place across the county. For the past 18 months schools have worked to develop and produce evidence for all the different ways parents and carers are involved in their school.
Their activities have included regular open mornings for parents to come in and share lessons with their child, and family lunches where all the family can try the hot dinners on offer in the school.
Following their success the schools will act as ambassadors to other schools, children’s centres and other organisations which provide support to parents and carers as the scheme is rolled out across the county.
Carolyn Tew, headteacher at Hindlip CE First School, said: “We greatly value the excellent partnership we have with our parents.
“We welcome them into school to share in their child’s learning, to join in our celebrations and to participate in the many activities we offer.
“It is rewarding that the leading parent partnership award has recognised the outstanding quality and range of our communication with parents.
“We believe by working with our parents we can give our children the very best start in life."”
Feckenham School, Birchensale Middle School, St George’s Middle School, and Vaynor First School, all in Redditch, also received the leading parent partnership award. In total, 39 first and secondary schools in urban and rural areas have been involved in the pilot scheme.
