EXCHANGE students from France worked hard in Worcester to improve their English.

The teenagers, from Worcester’s twin town of Le Vesinet, near Paris, spent last week working in cafés in the city to improve their language skills.

Valentin Sexton, aged 16 said: “I like Worcester and I love to learn English and meet people during the day. It is really helping me.”

His friend Pierre Antonine Lefort, also 16, added: “It is a beautiful city and an old city, and is very different to where we live. This is very useful as we become immersed in English life.”

The two are working as waiters in Chez Caroline in Reindeer Court and Priors Parlour in the cathedral.

Robert Loveless, a member of Worcester Twinning Association, said: “We have the first two students of the season who are in town doing work experience. We have got a good few more lined up over the next few months. These two were meant to be here for two weeks, but due to the ash they are only here for one. But they were very determined to come over.

“This is a very good way for them to practise their English and it is improving greatly just in these few days.”
