DELIVERING thousands of letters to 500 houses a day makes running half- marathons almost easy.

Postman Chris Grubb barely trained for his first half- marathon in Liverpool, but managed to complete it in an impressive one hour and 27 minutes and finished 118th out of 5,500.

Mr Grubb said: “The best part of the half-marathon was seeing the sights of Liverpool as we came to the finish and being spurred on by my five-year-old daughter Ella, her mum Tash and my mother Kathy.”

The 29-year-old has no intention of stopping there and plans to run his second half-marathon in June.

Mr Grubb, of Tennyson Drive, Malvern, decided to start running to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice, which looked after his father Bill before he died.

Mr Grubb said: “The staff at the hospice were brilliant, always treating dad with respect and dignity, making sure he was comfortable and pain-free.

“My family received tremendous support during this awful time and there was always someone around to answer questions and to explain things.

“This is our way of saying a huge thank you to St Richard’s and we as a family intend to continue raising as much money as we can for them.”

People who want to donate to Chris’s marathon efforts can contact the hospice, Wildwood Drive, Worcester, on 01905 763963.
