A MAN has died after falling into a county lake and suffering a heart attack.
Paramedics were called to a lake off Gilver Lane in Hanley Castle, near Malvern, at around 10.50am this morning.
As crews arrived the man, who had reportedly been fishing, was being pulled from the water from bystanders.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man, who has not been named, was in cardiac arrest.
It is not yet known if he suffered the heart attack before falling into the water, or after.
The spokesman said: "Crews immediately commenced advanced life support on him at the scene before he was flown to Worcestershire Royal Hospital; resuscitation efforts continued en-route.
“Medics were pre-alerted to the arrival of the man who was in a critical condition.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews and hospital medics, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead shortly after arrival at hospital.”
