THE Mayor of Worcester helped to open a new adventure playground for children at a city school. Councillor Andy Roberts visited St Mary’s Worcester Girls School in Battenhall to cut the ribbon on the adventure trail and outdoor classroom.

Parents and pupils have raised more than £5,000 to buy the equipment, which will be used by children in the private school’s preparatory department.

The trail has been laid out around a large Cedar tree and is made up of low level climbing frames, bridges, stepping stones, ropes and tyres. Preparatory department head Lynne Lister said: “Many, many thanks are due to the PSA for their enthusiastic support and fund-raising efforts over the last 18 months, without which this project could not have gone ahead. Not only will pupils have fun, but it will also help to develop their balancing skills and give an understanding of how to play safely as well.”
