THE Mayor of Worcester helped to open a new adventure playground for children at a city school. Councillor Andy Roberts visited St Mary’s Worcester Girls School in Battenhall to cut the ribbon on the adventure trail and outdoor classroom.

Parents and pupils have raised more than £5,000 to buy the equipment, which will be used by children in the private school’s preparatory department.

The trail has been laid out around a large Cedar tree and is made up of low level climbing frames, bridges, stepping stones, ropes and tyres. Preparatory department head Lynne Lister said: “I know that all the pupils will love playing on the adventure trail. Not only will pupils have fun, but it will also help to develop their balancing skills and give an understanding of how to play safely as well.”
