CHILDREN all over the world will now be able to enjoy a Worcester woman’s unique hula hoops.

Mandy Goddard has been sending her customised hula hoops – which she creates at her home in Rainbow Hill – as far afield as Australia for two years.

She has now received the necessary accreditation to make them for children and is launching an art competition to celebrate.

Mrs Goddard makes a wide range of hoops for adults – including hoops with LED lights, collapsable hoops, travel hoops and mini hoops.

The 52-year-old said: “I make all sorts and lots of sizes. The girls seem to love them and they are very popular at festivals.”

Mrs Goddard was inspired to start her business after her daughter returned home from university with a customised hula hoop, imported from America.

She said: “It was rubbish and I thought to myself, ‘I could make something a lot better than that’.

Mrs Goddard now sells her hoops to hula enthusiasts all over the world via eBay and her own website.

Meanwhile, her daughter Gemma, now aged 25, takes her hoops across the globe to perform as part of charity Entertainers Without Borders.

To celebrate, Mrs Goddard wants to decorate her van with pictures of people hula hooping, drawn by Worcester children.
