PRIMARY school pupils have donated their spare change to help raise money for charity.
Pupils at St George’s Catholic Primary School collected nearly £400 for Cafod – the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development – to help with water and education projects run by the agency. Children brought in the pocket money and small change collected from family members as part of the school’s Bring a Penny appeal and used the coins to create Cafod signs.
Headteacher Mike Painter said: “We are proud of the children’s charitable efforts, which are in keeping with the school’s motto: Achieve, Believe, Care.
“It is one of the school’s principles to help people less fortunate than ourselves and this is an easy way to demonstrate to the children that charitable efforts help people all over the world.”
