THE golden age of Stourport’s waterways was celebrated during a heritage weekend.

The restored historic boat Lady Hatherton 1898, a canal inspection boat, was moored at the Stourport Canal Basins for the heritage weekend where the town’s heritage rooms, newly completed, were on show.

The Droitwich Salvation Army band played a selection of songs at Stourport Basins.

British Waterways volunteers were on hand to show visitors around the tiny living quarters of the heritage work boat Swift, explaining what it was like to live and work on a canal boat.

The creation of the heritage rooms and events programme are part of a partnership project of Stourport Forward with Stourport Civic Society and British Waterways, which was funded by Advantage West Midlands and Stourport Civic Society. The Heritage Rooms are staffed by volunteers from Stourport Forward and Stourport Civic Society.
