GARDENING gurus Alan Titchmarsh and Diarmuid Gavin have supported a fund-raising project in a Worcestershire school.

Burlish Park School in Stourport-on-Severn enjoyed the sight of nearly 400 daffodils this spring as pupils planted daffodil bulbs in the autumn, all in aid of the Myasathenia Gravis Association.

The association is the only charity in the UK and Ireland which supports people with the auto-immune disease.

Parents were asked to buy a bulb, donated by Winchester Growers, for the children to plant.

Supporters Mr Titchmarsh and Mr Gavin said: “There is no better way of brightening up spring than by planting bulbs in the autumn.”

The bulbs were planted in pots around the school, as well as in front of the school, to be enjoyed by the community and children alike. Ecoschools co-ordinator Lynda Williams said: “Taking part in this event presented the opportunity to combine improving our grounds with raising awareness and money for a worthwhile charity.”
