VILLAGERS celebrated the opening of a new community pavilion. Budding sports stars now have their own purpose-built facility in Welland, near Malvern.

Welland pre-school and Welland Junior Football Club will use the pavilion, which will also be a meeting place for the community.

The celebration on Saturday also included Welland Junior Football Club’s annual fun run around the village.

Hundreds of people turned up to celebrate the opening of the new pavilion, which cost just under £300,000.

Parish council chairman Roger Cousins said it had been a great day with 250 people taking part in Welland Junior Football Club’s annual fun run.

The funds will help the club after its kit was stolen.
