A GROUP of children in Worcester have been delighted to welcome 10 new arrivals to their club.
The children of the Brighter Futures before and after school club set up a bird box in February in the playground of Cherry Orchard Primary School, Timberdine Close.
And so there was much excitement last week after the eggs finally hatched – a moment which was caught on a camera linked to a computer – and 10 new blue tits joined their mother.
Nicola Turrell, director of Brighter Futures, said: “The webcam has proved to be a great success as children have been able to keep a video record of the birds and can even observe them in the dark due to the infra red lights concealed in the bird box.” Staff are now hoping that children attending the half-term holiday club will be able to see the baby birds take their first flights from the nest.
