A FINAL call has been made for runners to join hundreds of supporters in Acorns Children’s Hospice’s premier event, the triple run in Malvern.

People have until Friday to sign up for the fund-raising run.

They will join Acorns’ families, running veterans, novices, and siblings of Acorns children, who are all running near the Malvern Hills on Sunday, June 6.

The triple run at the Three Counties Showground is important to Acorns’ constant need to raise funds for life-limited and life- threatened children.

Organisers hope some 2,000 participants of all ages and abilities, including serious runners, fun runners, children, and people with disabilities and special needs, will take part.

The unique three-race format comprises a half- marathon (accredited by Worcester Athletic Club), a 5km fun run and a special event called the 1km Chicken Run (supported by Aardman Animations) that is a wheelchair-friendly course designed specifically for people with disabilities or special needs.

There is also a host of challenges for teams and schools to sign up to, with winners’ trophies and prizes on offer for the fastest runners.

Kerrie Davies, Acorns events manager, said: “We would love to hear from more runners before our entry deadline.

“Acorns’ care is incredibly important to families – runners can be assured their participation in the event will benefit families in the local community.”

Acorns, which has a hospice in Bath Road, Worcester, currently cares for more than 500 children who have life-limiting or life- threatening illnesses/conditions and their families.

It relies on donations for the majority of its income.
