THE air ambulance was scrambled after a road crash on a main road left two people injured.
The accident happened at the junction of Cotswold Way (B4639) and Cranham Drive in Blackpole, Worcester, at 1.30pm yesterday.
The Midlands Air Am-bulance from Cosford was dispatched and the on-board doctor and aircrew helped medics on the scene treating the injured.
The crash, involving a Fiat Panda and Citroen Xsara Picasso people-carrier, closed the busy road. Firefighters cut the roof off the Panda to free a trapped woman passenger, who suffered a knee injury. Three people had been travelling in the car.
Witness Brenda Eccleston had been to a nearby pet store when the accident happened. She took pictures of the aftermath and praised the emergency services’ hard work. “They were just fantastic, they took such a lot of time and care getting the lady out of her car and straight in the ambulance,” she said.
A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue said it had sent two fire engines and a fire support officer.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “The air ambulance’s doctor went with the ambulance to hospital along with the patients.”
A male occupant of the Citroen Picasso was treated for a non-serious shoulder injury.
The B4639 road remained partially blocked for some time after the accident.
