A POLICE sergeant has been caught behind the wheel while almost four times the drink-drive limit.
Paul King, aged 40, of Windmill Lane, Kempsey, admitted driving while over the limit when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday.
A breath test found King, of West Mercia Policeβs north Worcestershire division, had 139mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit fopr driving is 35mcg.
King was not in uniform for the hearing, which lasted less than five minutes.
The case was transferred to Gloucester Magistrates Court, where King will be sentenced on Wednesday, June 7.
King was given an interim driving ban and released on unconditional bail until then.
After the hearing, a West Mercia spokesman said: βHe has not been suspended at this stage but has been removed from frontline duties.β
She said that was not on duty at the time.
