A car crash in which a woman died has claimed a second victim.

The elderly woman, a passenger in a silver Suzuki wagon, was confirmed dead at the scene after a crash with a silver Volvo V70 on the outskirts of Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

The man, thought to be in his eighties, who was driving the car, died from his injuries this morning at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham.

Two air ambulances had been sent to the A451 Stourbridge Road after the two cars crashed at the crossroads junction for Caunsall and Churchill, at 3.10pm on Tuesday, May 18.

The man driving the Volvo suffered only minor injuries and was treated as a walking wounded casualty and taken by land ambulance to Worcestershire Royal hospital for assessment.

PC Sian Davies from the Force Operation Support Team said: “This is a tragic incident and are thoughts are with the family.

“We have spoken to some witnesses but would appeal to anyone else who saw the collision or recalls seeing either vehicle beforehand in the Stourbridge Road area to give police a call at the earliest opportunity.”
