PEOPLE living along the rail route between Worcester and Oxford are being offered the chance to enjoy a day out at the seaside on a special excursion train.

The Cotswold Line Promotion Group has teamed up with First Great Western and the West Somerset Railway to run a high speed train to the resort of Minehead, in Somerset, on Saturday, September 18.

The train will leave Worcester at 6.27am and will call at Pershore, Evesham, Moreton-in-Marsh before running on to the preserved West Somerset Railway line to Minehead, where it is due to arrive at 12.15pm.

The return journey leaves Minehead at 4.55pm, reaching Worcester at 9.42pm.

Tickets cost £27 for adults and £12.50 for children aged five to 15. Under-fives can travel free of charge.
