FUGITIVE Raoul Moat, alleged to have shot three people, killing one, is said to have made threats towards the public, police have revealed.

Speaking at Northumbria Police Headquarters, officers have confirmed that information received by murder detectives suggests that the 37-year-old now poses a bigger threat to the public than earlier thought.

Until now, Detective Chief Superintendent Neil Adamson has suggested the only threat has been to police officers hunting him around Rothbury in Northumberland.

This is now the sixth day that the manhunt has been underway, and a number of people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Moat is alleged to have shot the partner of his ex-girlfriend dead before wounding her and later shooting a police officer in the face.

He has been on the run ever since, and allegedly robbed a fish and chip shop in Seaton Deleval before attentions turned to the Northumberland countryside.

Police have since found a tent and belongings in woodland, and it is believed he is still in the area despite "the net closing" in on him.
