SUN-worshipers are being advised to be careful this weekend as temperatures look set to soar.
In particular, safety campaigners are advising people to be wary of waterways and lakes across Worcestershire - which often pose hidden dangers.
RoSPA - the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents - is urging swimmers to stick to supervised areas and stay away from anywhere with strong currents, debris and rocks.
Peter Cornall, head of leisure safety at the safety charity, said: “RoSPA believes that life should be as safe as necessary, not as safe as possible, and in line with that we want people to be out and about enjoying this weekend’s good weather - which includes enjoying the water.
“River and lake swimming as part of a properly-organised activity is very different to the more ad-hoc occasions when people take to the water to cool off, perhaps on the spur of the moment.
"For those wanting to cool down, swimming at properly-supervised sites, such as beaches, lidos or swimming pools is the best option although we appreciate that not everyone can go to these locations.
"If you choose not to go to a properly-supervised site, then think through the various hazards first and make sure you know what to do if anything goes wrong.”
