TWO of Britain’s folk legends are taking to the stage in Hereford.

Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick will perform at the Courtyard on Thursday, September 2. Guitarist and singer Carthy and virtuoso violin player Swarbrick first became heroes of the British folk scene when they worked as an acoustic duo in the 1960s, before the latter joined Fairport Convention.

They were reunited in the early 90s, but Swarbrick fell ill - so ill that the Daily Telegraph famously published his premature obituary. After recovering and an emotional reunion with the Fairports in 2006, the pair made a new album together and are now back on tour.

The gig is part of the Nightjar series. For tickets, priced £14 and concessions £12, call 01432 340555 or book online at courtyard.org.uk.
