A glimpse into a bygone era in Worcestershire will be available tomorrow at a screening of old film footage.

These striking stills show some of the images that will be on show of a past generation of people going about their business in the county’s streets and fields.

Among the footage will be the 1948 floods and Winston Churchill’s visit to Worcester in 1950, as well as newly discovered footage that has never been screened before.

The screening, called worcestershire on film, will show old films from the vaults of Worcestershire county council’s record office and the media archive for Central England. The Swan Theatre in Worcester will host the screening.

Similar events have proved popular in the past with more than 2,000 people attending other showings.

This year’s event even plans to repeat some of the films shown in 2008 after requests from viewers.

Paul Hudson, head of the Worcestershire History Centre, said: “We can assure people of another great evening viewing bygone eras.

“Many times people recognise friends or relatives and there’s always a buzz as people reminisce.”

The screening will take place at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £4 for concessions and can be booked by calling 01905 611427.
