A MAN had to be taken to hospital following an unprovoked attack in Worcester.

The attack, in which the man was punched in the face, took place in The Cross in the early hours of Sunday, August 15, at about 2.40am.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and information about the incident. A police spokesman said: “There were a considerable number of people around at the time and we would like to hear from them as to what they saw – or heard – of this incident, after which the innocent victim required treatment at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital."

The attacker was seen walking off with a number of other people who knew him and officers hope that at least one of these may now come forward in addition to any other witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000, quoting 289S/150810.
