AN extremely drunk young man unleashed a tirade of racial abuse at Asian workers in a busy city street.
Luke Miller of Brickfields Road, Brickfields, Worcester, was arrested outside Pan Pizza in New Street while still hurling racial abuse.
At Worcester Magistrates Court Miller admitted shouting racially aggravated threats and abuse at the pizza parlour staff and a cab driver, also damaging his car to the tune of £500.
Miller, aged 20, punched the parlour’s glass window and kicked and punched the cab demanding driver Muhammed Rizwan “get out” and face him, according to Leslie Ashton, prosecuting.
Miller had been out at Bar 12 in The Cornmarket with his girlfriend on Sunday, June 27, but they left and then had a falling out.
The argument was so loud Mr Rizwan went over to check Miller’s girlfriend was all right as he saw him punching the glass.
This attracted the attention of the pizza workers who also remonstrated with Miller, who then became aggressive, foul mouthed and racially abusive.
“One of the staff told him to shut up but Miller took a swing at the man,” said Miss Ashton.
He then hurled racist abuse at Mr Rizwan who was back in his Volkswagen Passat taxi at this point.
Instead, Miller punched the car, banged the window, leaving two dents in the body panels.
Police arrived and arrested Miller who continued his tirade of abuse during interview but admitted he was “wound up”.
Mr Rizwan told officers afterwards he was “appalled by his language and very offended by the racial abuse he gave me and others.
“It’s totally out of order – I hope he’s punished,” said Mr Rizwan.
Barry Newton, in mitigation, said Miller was “extremely drunk,” had “lost his temper and said things he should not have.”
He returns to Worcester Magistrates Court for sentencing on Wednesday, September 29.
