4:35pm Wednesday 1st September 2010

IT may have been a struggle to find that dream job over the past few months, but your Worcester News has come to the rescue to offer help and advice on finding a new career.

The Worcester News Jobs and Careers Fair is now in its ninth year and will take place in the Guildhall, Worcester, on Thursday, September 23.

The event will give people the chance to gather information on a variety of jobs and educational courses.

The fair will welcome many new stalls, as well as hosting regular exhibitors to help people find the right path.

Worcester News recruitment manager Richard Hencher said: “We have had a lot of interest from different people this time.

“The last fair in March attracted more than 900 visitors and we received some great feedback. We want to make sure we cater for people’s needs.”

There will be advice from recruitment agencies, colleges, universities and businesses who are big employers in Worcester.

There will also be different work sectors at the event, including organisations that work with children and young people, families and people with special needs.

One of the exhibitors at the fair will be Nextstep West Midlands, a government-funded service offering free advice on how best to prepare your CV and make more effective skills, careers and life choices.

Exhibitors also confirmed at the fair include: npower, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, West Mercia Police, Shop Direct, Jobcentre Plus, University of Worcester, British Army, Association for Care Train-ing Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Rowden House School, Clifford House School and Phoenix Fostering.

Mr Hencher said: “We are trying to make the fair a more rounded event and provide the variety of businesses and employment opportunities that people of all ages are looking for.”

Last year’s fair attracted 1,225 jobseekers and there are still stands available at this month’s event. To find out more, call Richard Hencher on 01905 742355.

This year the fair will be open from 10am until 4pm. Admission is free.
