Harking back to times gone by

THERE will be ghost stories, archaeology, period music and more at a Civil War day in Worcester.

Local education and re-enactment company Discover History is holding its annual Civil War Day at the Guildhall in Worcester High Street tomorrow.

The event, on the anniversary of the Battle of Worcester, will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Civil War archaeologist and author Malcom Atkin will be on hand to talk to visitors, Anna Bradford will also be telling Civil War ghost stories and period musicians A Merrie Noyse will be playing live.

Organisations such as the Worcestershire Record Office, Worcester City Council archaeology department, and the Battlefields Trust will also take part.

“We have raised awareness of the Civil War Heritage around us by running a day dedicated to the Civil Wars for seven years now,” said Paul Harding of Discover History.

“The aim was to highlight our unique heritage. We really are the Civil War county.”

Mr Harding will also be running themed-walking tours (£5 per person) throughout the day, but entry is completely free.
