THE thought of starting a new career can be a scary, especially as last year was a tough one.

But at the Worcester News Jobs and Careers Fair, people will be offered professional help and advice.

The event, which will be at the Guildhall, High Street, Worcester, on Thursday, September 23, will also be attended by staff from the University of Worcester, who will be on hand to talk about gaining new skills and qualifications as well as the huge range of courses the facility offers.

A university spokesman said: “For those interested in career progression there are a number of business, health and education courses specifically aimed at professionals who want to combine work with higher education study.

“And our course offering has expanded into a range of new areas, including forensic science, marketing, paramedic training, journalism, social work and advertising.”

It is one of the fastest growing universities in the country and has recently undergone its own development.

It offers more than 200 different courses, flexible study options and strong vocational links. The main focus is making higher education accessible to all, from the arts and sports to teacher training and the sciences.

The university is one of the biggest employers in Worces-ter with almost 900 full and part-time staff, making the Worcester News Jobs and Careers Fair the ideal place to discover more about employment opportunities as well as what to study.

It will be just one of the work sectors represented at the fair, which runs from 10am to 4pm and is free to enter.

There will be a Worcester News stall so people can find out about jobs with your local newspaper.

Companies wishing to be stallholders can call Richard Hencher, Worcester News recruitment manager, on 01905 7422355 or visit worcesternews.co.uk/newspaperevents
