A SCHOOLGIRL from Worcester who was captured lying on the ground by Google’s Street View cameras has become a global phenomenon.

Your Worcester News exclusively published the story which featured images of 10-year-old Azura Beebeejaun, outside her home in Middle Road, St John’s.

The pictures had initially sparked panic among our readers fearing the ‘corpse’ was at the centre of a suspicious incident.

However, the mystery was solved when neighbours confirmed the youngster was playing in the street with a friend.

Azura, a pupil at Pitmaston Primary School, later told us she had fallen over and had no idea she was being filmed.

The story featured in a number of national newspapers both in Britain and abroad but the extent of Azura’s global stardom was confirmed on the front page of the United Arab Emirates’ The Gulf Today, on Saturday, August 15.

A Worcester News reader spotted the article during a trip to the Middle East.

Mum Saira, aged 43, said: “I never thought one picture could cause such a commotion.”
