WORCESTERSHIRE workers will leave the suit and tie behind when they take part in a singing competition Last Choir Standing, organised by technology company Postcode Anywhere, of Hallow, near Worcester, is a unique fund-raiser which sees staff from local companies raise their voices while raising money for charity.
The 2010 showdown will take place at the Malvern Theatres on Thursday, November 4. Anyone interested in putting together a corporate choir is being urged to sign up and start practising now.
Last year eight local companies formed choirs and helped raise an incredible £10,000 for Leukaemia CARE.
“There were accountants with attitude, singing solicitors and melodic medical practitioners giving it their all for a good cause,” said Angela Davis, of Postcode Anywhere.
“Everyone involved had so much fun and so did the audience of friends, family and corporate partners that came along to support their loved ones and the event.”
The winning performances came from the Leukaemia CARE team for their Grease medley, Simon and Garfunkel’s Sound of Silence by Thursfields Solicitors, and Bohemian Rhapsody – which included a Brian May-inspired air guitar solo – by hotelshopUK.
Some of the staff donned costumes and added choreography to impress the judges.
This year’s contest is open to any Worcestershire business, shop or public sector organisation. Entry is free, choirs can comprise from five to 100 people and there is no rules on song choice.
