THE girl who beat Cher Lloyd to the number one spot in a Worcester talent competition has also got through to the second round of X Factor.

Ellice Chidlow came first in Text Factor – held at Sin Bar, New Street, back in April – and was seen fleetingly on Saturday night’s X Factor.

And even 18-year-old Ellice was surprised by her brief appearance, as she didn’t know whether or not she would appear.

She said: “I was at work when it was on. I had to stay up until 1am to see myself on the repeat.”

Viewers briefly saw judge Cheryl Cole give Ellice, who lives in Hereford, her third yes, before telling her: “You need to come back as you”.

Ellice originally sang I’m Changing by Jennifer Hudson but Simon Cowell stopped her and told her to sing I Am Telling You, which was featured on musical Dream Girls and was the song which won her Text Factor.

Unfortunately, Simon still said no but Louis Walsh and guest judge Pixie Lott both loved her and joined Cheryl in putting her through to Bootcamp – where she met up with fellow Text Factor contestant Cher.

Ellice said: “It was really nice to see her there. She is a very good artist, very unique and different.”

Like Cher, Ellice would encourage others to enter local competitions before trying their luck in front of the X Factor judges.

“Text Factor was really good,” she said. “It was a tough competition. Once I had done it, I thought, ‘I’ve had a taste for this, I’m going to try X Factor’.”

Paul Todd, manager of Sin, said: “Ellice is a more confident girl than Cher – she is really smiley and full of beans.

“The fact that two of the girls from the competition have got through is not only great for Sin Bar, but also for Worcester. I think the competition is attracting a good standard of singers.”

Sin Bar is now preparing for its next competition, Worcester’s Got Talent, which it is staging in association with your Worcester News in a couple of weeks.

Worcester’s Got Talent will see people perform in front of judges, just like the ITV show.
